While the world’s elite athletes are busy preparing for the 2012 London Olympics, we are gearing up for a challenge of our own a little sooner...
As a firm we have always been committed to supporting worthy causes, which is why we are delighted to be taking part in the UK200Group’s Not the Olympics campaign, which aims to raise £50,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
So what will this involve? Well from May until November this year, participating members of the UK200Group of independent accountancy and lawyer firms will be tasked with relaying an Olympic-style TORCH across the UK.
Stuart Bennett is our starting champion. He is going to collect the TORCH, on Monday 5 September, from Braintree and cycle to the Leisure Centre in Colchester. We are proud sponsors of Colchester Swimming Club who do so much to support young people in this activity and there the TORCH will enter the pool. (it is a plastic replica so no health and safety issues!). We will complete our representative triathlon (Stuart’s sport) with Samantha Cantrell running away from the pool to the next leg of the journey.
After a well earned overnight rest the TORCH will be brought on horseback by Rachel Elliott to our Business Breakfast Meeting at The Barn Brasserie, Marks Tey, on Tuesday 6 September, from where it will depart to Wisbech on a motorcycle. The TORCH will reach the Olympic Stadium in November.
You can help us try and reach our target by kindly sponsoring us and donating money for this extremely good cause. Your friends, family and colleagues are welcome to sponsor us - the aim is to raise as much money as possible.
To sponsor us, please visit the UK200Group’s sponsorship page at www.justgiving.com/UK200Group or send us a cheque made payable to Alzheimer’s Society.
