Since being set up in the mid-1980s, Chambers and Partners (or Chambers for short) and Legal 500 have become the pre-eminent directories for the legal profession.

While the publications have their headquarters in London, they rank firms around the UK and indeed worldwide. There are now some 180 jurisdictions which have their own version of the guide.

While the legal landscape has shifted considerably since their arrival, there is no doubt that these publications remain highly respected within the industry. A well-thumbed copy of one or both can be found in many offices, while the online versions also receive considerable traffic.

For many professionals the reason the guides still matter is that they are the most comprehensive catalogues of high-performing firms in any given region or area of practice, even if there is likely to be the occasional heated debate about the final rankings.

While many firms acknowledge the importance of the directories, fewer actually make a submission. Sometimes partners don’t know what is required or are put off by the time it takes to compile an entry.

At JE Consulting we have many years’ experience assisting firms with their submissions and are happy to help guide clients through the process.

Our team can answer your queries, assist with drafting entries and proof and refine those you have prepared yourself.
