A group of students from Birmingham Metropolitan College’s Sutton Coldfield campus have had the chance to try their hand in the busy world of marketing thanks to local award-winning agency JE Consulting.
The students, who are working towards an NVQ qualification in Business Services, helped JE Consulting to contact businesses across the UK as part of a national survey on accounting services.
Over several months the students worked at the company’s offices in Lichfield Road next to the college to learn more about market research and its applications in marketing.
The work that they conducted will go towards the work requirements of their vocational course and will be used as part of their coursework.
Having made hundreds of calls to businesses of all sizes and from various sectors, two students stood out for their exceptional work and project planning.
Sabah Tariq and Ifra Ahmed were rewarded by JE Consulting for their hard work with a gift voucher to show appreciation for the effort they put in.
Nicola Dale, Director at JE Consulting said: “It was a real pleasure to have the students join us and they were very professional in their approach to this important project.
“They undertook a number of difficult telephone interviews with businesses from around the UK and gained some useful insight into the accountancy services provided to them.
“We would like to thank all of the students who took part in the project, but particular thanks go to Sabah Tariq and Ifra Ahmed, who took it upon themselves to get really involved and help their fellow students.”
During the project members of JE Consulting’s experienced team also attended the college to speak to students about the importance of marketing and the skills they would gain from the project.
