I’ve been working at JE Consulting for nearly two years, and I can confirm three things:

  1. It’s not like Mad Men
  2. It isn’t a spreadsheet hell either
  3. Creativity isn’t dead – especially for Gen Z

Agency life isn’t all brainstorms over flat whites and creative genius striking at 4pm on a Friday (although, if you bring the custard creams, I’ll give it a go).

But it is fast-paced, collaborative, and full of variety – especially in a specialist agency like ours, where we help solicitors, accountants, and a whole raft of professional services build brands that people actually notice.

In fact, helping businesses in industries that traditionally don’t shout the loudest means we’ve got to be smarter, sharper, and frankly a bit more creative than your average “influencer marketing” outfit.

Our clients are serious about their work, and we’re serious about making them stand out – whether that’s through standout copy, slick websites, clever social, or a full-on event that makes their competitors wonder what just happened.

Meet the teams

The copywriting team

Our copywriters are the ones who turn legalese into language real humans understand. Sometimes they’re writing blog posts that demystify tax changes, sometimes we’re scripting videos for employment law campaigns.

Other days? It’s a full brand tone-of-voice refresh.

They’re part researcher, part storyteller, and part translator of jargon into something everyone can understand (and enjoy reading).

I started out here, in the copy team, and can confirm that a great deal of creativity exists, despite having complex briefs or technical subjects to write about. 

The graphic designers

Brand identities, social graphics, business cards, brochures, signage for conferences… you name it, they’re crafting it.

Expect creative debates about colour palettes alongside tight deadlines as well as a great variety of work to be completed.

Our graphic designers take what the copy team does and makes it into something genuinely engaging.

They make sure the stuff written gets read by our audience.

The web team

The web team builds the platforms our clients rely on and keeps the technical stuff running smoothly behind the scenes.

Some days that means custom WordPress sites, others it’s refining UX flows or fixing the thing that mysteriously broke at midnight.

Often they’re coding systems to make email marketing more simple or reach a wider audience.

Yes, they speak fluent “developer” code, and I still need a translator sometimes.

The social media team

This is really where the brands we work for meet the world.

Our social media team plans content, engages with audiences, runs paid campaigns, and yes, we’ll tell you if TikTok is right for you… spoiler: it often is.

Fundamentally, they’re strategists, schedulers, and sharp-witted responders all in one.

Our events experts

Virtual roundtables, big-ticket conferences, intimate networking evenings, webinars, etc. – we help clients get in front of the right people and give them something worth talking about.

The events team handle all of the logistics, promotion, running of and attending events for our clients, so every event becomes a lead-generating opportunity.

What’s the day-to-day like?

I think the important thing to mention here is that every day is different – genuinely.

You never really know what’s coming in that morning, or which projects you’ll find yourself working on.

However, some of the things that you will definitely do are…

  • Project work: Whether that’s designing a website, writing a client newsletter, or prepping a webinar.
  • Client calls and presentations: They really value our expertise.
  • Collaborative planning: We love having multiple brains working together to solve a problem or create a campaign
  • Celebrating wins: Big and small. Launching a new site, nailing a blog, finally getting approval on a big project – it gives you a great sense of accomplishment.

It’s busy and fast-paced but always collaborative – no one’s left to figure it out alone, and we’ve got each other’s backs when the deadlines pile up.
